Welcome to Small Talking. I've been keeping a comic strip diary of my children (and their friends) since Reception and started publishing them online three years ago. I'll keep adding new cartoons and will stop doing them only when the kids cease to amuse me.

On the tube

This one's from a while back. The worst thing was the tube was stuck in a tunnel and the carriage was completely silent.

Failed Parenting Technique No.12: Pay no attention

The childcare manuals don't tell you what to do when they do this.

Mother-to-be

This is NOT something a woman wants to hear two weeks before giving birth.

Learning to read

One of the pre-school children came out with this in the park cafe this week.

Eastenders

'You come round 'ere, bold as brass, asking for a lullaby. You've gone too far this time, Phil...'

My son came out with this little corker after both children had refused to eat the meal their grandmother had cooked them.

The Reluctant Walker

This is my son enjoying the countryside. I don't think he quite got the point.

Telling the Time

The Juniors only get 20 minutes to collect, eat and clear their lunch. Some of them have got lunchtime down to 10 minutes by year six. I'm not surprised Edward forgot his non-existent napkin.

Granny's Loo

We went to visit Granny and Grandad's newly refurbished flat. Grandad is very kind to Granny, but I think my daughter's wrong on this one.

Good Learning

You can't beat state education! Everyone's a winner. The reception kids come out covered with stickers and they love it.

Pets

Pets are naked. My husband's noticed this too. He thinks that dogs should wear nappies.
