Welcome to Small Talking. I've been keeping a comic strip diary of my children (and their friends) since Reception and started publishing them online three years ago. I'll keep adding new cartoons and will stop doing them only when the kids cease to amuse me.

If that is her job, she's very good at it.

Shyness

This is one from when my daughter had just started school. She's a bit more socially sophisticated now.

Impossible homework

We googled the full question and found the homework sheet available as a download online (www.primaryresources.co.uk/maths/ mathsE2.htm). I don't think the teacher can have checked it before handing it out.

Curse those TV adverts.

In the restaurant

What a fortnight we've had. We've all been ill one after the other.

Swollen Face

Proof if it were ever needed that little boys are allergic to getting washed. His face has gone back down again now. Very weird.

First bash at animation

No sound yet. I've changed the look a bit, because it's easier having contained spaces to fill. My son doesn't look quite right yet. It's a work in progress!

Royal Mail

I somehow suspect that by the time the Queen has figured out how to send an email and several hundred centenarians have figured out how to open it, a letter would be quicker.
Hello All. Sorry for the gap - it's been difficult to find time to do the cartoons recently. I got whacked out and then my pens ran out, which I took as a sign to have a rest.

I'm hoping that I can get them commissioned so that I'll be able to justify spending more time on them, rather than having to do them at night / before the children wake up. (I work with my husband through the day).

I've also been learning how to animate the little blighters, which is exciting. Lots of ham acting up in the attic from the two of them.

New pens are ordered up for today, so should be back to normal soon.

I think quite a few children are playing buildings.

Parental Involvement Day at school

Repeat to yourself... It is not a competition with the other parents... it is not a competition with the other parents. Parental Involvement Day brings out the worst in me.

Visiting Secondary School

We've got a couple of years to go yet, but the children with older siblings are already passing on the social dos and don'ts. I have been seriously instructed not to do anything that could possibly blow his cool.

Can I see your medical qualifications?

With thanks to mmelindor (top tweeter) for the idea for this one. I guess we all reach the stage where mummy's kisses can't fix it.

More school dinners (second helpings)

I think that there must be a problem with the dinners at school since the kids got back. They really don’t like them.

Mosquito

Apologies for the late return - we've come back to find that someone’s trying to build four town houses 3 metres from the end of our garden - it’s been a bit distracting. Hopefully back to normal from now on.

Picky eaters

Good question

We'd never really thought about it. I mean, I know space looks black and not blue like the earth daytime, but I think that the sky is only blue because of the atmosphere(?). Near the sun, we decided you wouldn't need a torch. There'd also be no night because the sun shines all the time. But there must be areas of space where no light reaches and then it would be dark all the time and you wouldn't be able to see where you were going? Or am I wrong? Any rocket scientists out there?

Dam busters

A passing dad co-ordinated all the children into one team to block the flow of a small stream into the sea. By the time the dam burst about half an hour later, several families had settled down in its path.
